Dr Elina (Linnie) Telford
Chartered and Registered Clinical Psychologist
About Linnie
I am an experienced and friendly Clinical Psychologist who specialises in child and adolescent mental health and also, family work. I am compassionate, well skilled and qualified in providing 1:1 treatments and family interventions. I value the role of bespoke person-/family- centred and evidence based interventions to meet individual and family need(s). I am empathic, warm and sensitive and have a specific skill set in supporting young people and families to engage with addressing difficulties.
Background
I have worked in the NHS for a number years and across various settings, including adult and child mental health teams. I have also, worked within specialist family therapy, neuro-developmental and eating disorder clinics. My clinical training means that I have experience in working with people across the life span, with various neuro-developmental, physical and mental health needs. Therefore, I am well placed to offer therapeutic interventions to young people with a range of mental health concerns in the context of complex family and societal systems.
Furthermore, I have a background in conducting and supervising research, including but not limited to the areas of the internet and eating disorders, body image and sexuality, and dementia. I have been involved with the publication of research papers, as well as presenting at National and International conferences.
Approaches
I use a broad range of evidence-based models to inform my work, including, but not limited to: attachment, systemic, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and solution focused informed approaches. More recently I have completed a specialist post-graduate diploma in systemic practice to further support my work with families. I have also undertaken training in Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR). My interventions are person centred, reflective and dynamic in order to meet the needs of both individuals and families.
